Pundit can't believe Newcastle manager latest after 'incredible' Rodgers reveal from source
Noel Whelan has insisted Brendan Rodgers has “more to offer” Leicester City amid interest from Newcastle United.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed Rodgers, 48, has done an “incredible” job with the Foxes – adding that the ex-Celtic boss will be “happy where he is”.
A Newcastle source has told Football Insider (October 12th) that the Leicester boss joins Rangers manager Steven Gerrard as the main contenders to be the new manager, with Everton’s Rafael Benitez an outsider.
Contact with the trio is set to be initiated in the coming days as the Tyneside club’s new Saudi regime step up their manager hunt.
Rodgers joined Leicester in February 2019 after leaving Celtic.
He led the side to consecutive fifth-place Premier League finishes in his first two full seasons and completed a magnificent FA Cup triumph last term.

Whelan hailed Rodgers for his “incredible” work and insisted he would be happy to remain at the club.
“You have to admire Rodgers for what he did with Celtic, and now what he’s done with Leicester,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“The blueprint behind their success has been down to him. He’s bought the right players; the right blend of personalities and he’s installed that togetherness as a collective.
“What he’s done at Leicester is nothing short of incredible. There’s no doubt people will be looking and his demand will be high.
“Would he want to make the move and start again at Newcastle? I’m not so sure, I think he’s more than happy where he is right now.
“He’s got a strong squad which is capable of competing in Europe and in the domestic clubs.
“He probably feels like he has more to offer Leicester.”
