Pundit ‘can’t believe’ Tyrell Malacia after ’embarrassing’ Man United moment spotted

Man United defender Tyrell Malacia turned in an “embarrassing” performance as his side lost to Man City at the weekend.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the defender’s most recent performance.

Malacia, 23, started for Man United as they were hammered 6-3 by Man City on Sunday (2 October).

He failed to stop Phil Foden from making the score 4-0 just before half-time after failing to put a challenge in while the City star ran towards the Red Devils’ goal.

Kenny couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

“It was embarrassing, can’t believe it, honest to god,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I know it’s against Man City, they are an unbelievable team. For instance, Foden’s goal at the back post, the left-back Malacia, you could see what was happening.

“I was thinking, ‘go on, give him a nudge, get in front of him, break your neck to get the ball’. He didn’t look bothered.

“It was like he let Foden score, embarrassing. Haaland’s goal from the corner, they just didn’t look bothered. They didn’t look like they wanted it.

“You have to break your neck to keep it out. As a goalkeeper. watching that, embarrassing. The first thing I said when that goal went in, I would have been walling those players at half-time. Absolutely embarrassing.”
