Pundit can't believe what he saw from Cheick Doucoure at Arsenal
Cheick Doucoure may have cost Crystal Palace a point against Arsenal after going down with cramp in the second half of Friday’s (5 August) clash.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Arsenal beat Palace 2-0 in their 2022-23 Premier League opener thanks to a goal from Gabriel Martinelli and an own goal from Marc Guehi.
Doucoure, 22, joined Palace from Lens this summer and started against the Gunners.
However, Wenham claims the midfielder blew his new side’s chances of getting back into the game.
“I was very frustrated with Palace,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“There was a period in the second half where they had Arsenal completely on the ropes, Andersen was playing these balls over the top and Zaha was getting in every time.
“Palace were really in the ascendancy and then Doucoure, one of their own new signings, went down with cramp right in that period and it took the sting out of the game.
“This was at a point where Arsenal were very, very vulnerable. It is very frustrating that one of their new signings would do that.
“He could have hobbled off the pitch and allowed Arsenal to carry on because they were really putting Arsenal under pressure.
“It was really poor that one of their players would do that.”
Doucoure went off in the 75th minute and was replaced by Luka Milivojević.
Palace are next in action against Liverpool on Monday (15 August).
