Pundit ‘can’t believe’ what he’s seen from Thiago and two other ‘terrible’ Liverpool players
Tam McManus “couldn’t believe” the lack of energy in the Liverpool midfield against Leeds United.
Former Hibernian striker McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, now fears for the Reds’ season.
Liverpool lost 2-1 to Leeds United on Saturday (29 October), leaving them eight points off the top four.
Harvey Elliott, Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara started in the midfield against the Whites but struggled to find a rhythm throughout the game.
McManus insists the performances of those players are the root of Liverpool’s problems.
“They have just lost to the bottom two back-to-back,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“I watched the game the other night and I think Leeds deserved at least a point anyway, that was before they got the goal in the last minute.
“I couldn’t believe the lack of energy in that midfield, the lack of legs, terrible. They look like they just can’t get around the park.
“That’s the key area they have to look at. There are big problems at Liverpool, the players just aren’t performing.
“It was a terrible mistake from Gomez for the first goal, a blind pass across your own box, you get through that as a kid.
“The players just aren’t there at the moment so I don’t think there is a quick fix for Klopp.”

Liverpool are next in Premier League action against Tottenham on Sunday (6 November).
Jurgen Klopp’s side sit 9th in the Premier League.
