Pundit cites £75m deal amid new William Saliba claim at Arsenal - 'I'm sure'
Noel Whelan has insisted William Saliba would already command a fee of £75million after his start to life at Arsenal.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested Gunners chiefs will be working “extremely hard” to give the 21-year-old a contract reflective of his new value.
Speaking to Sky Sports (via Football Daily, 18 September), Saliba insisted he “likes everything” about being at Arsenal and he “feels at home” after he was asked about a potential new contract.
There has been no confirmation of renewal talks despite the France international’s contract expiring in June 2024.
Saliba has played 90 minutes in all seven of Arsenal’s Premier League games so far this term, forcing Ben White into a right-back berth.
He had spent the last three seasons on loan in Ligue 1 – making 84 appearances.

Whelan insisted Saliba is already worth as much as Wesley Fofana – who joined Chelsea in a reported £75million deal this summer.
He told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “Right now, you can’t put a price on him because he’s so valuable for Arsenal.
“He’s come back in a better place and a better player, and he’s built a great relationship with Gabriel.
“He looks solid, quick, good on the ball – you’d probably put him in the same price bracket as Wesley Fofana.
“There’s not one person who is talking in the media who isn’t impressed by his performances. He’s been a revelation for Arsenal.
“I’m sure they’re working extremely hard to get a contract on the table that he’s happy with – and one that he deserves.
“Right now, you can’t look past him and Gabriel as one of the best partnerships in the Premier League.”
