Pundit claims Bate is 'something special' as Leeds complete another top signing
Frank McAvennie has hailed Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds United’s transfer business after Lewis Bate joined the club from Chelsea.
The former West Ham striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted as the Whites confirmed their fifth summer signing.
On Thursday (July 22nd), Leeds announced the signing of Bate as he signed a three-year deal with the club.
On 20th July, Football Insider revealed the Whites fought off late interest from West Ham to land the highly-rated prospect.
Bate, 18, will link up with Leeds’ Under-23s and becomes the third youngster to join the club this summer following the arrivals of Amari Miller and Sean McGurk.
McAvennie claims Bate must have “something special” if Bielsa signed off on his acquisition.

“All we hear about Bielsa is that he’s a great man,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“He takes boys and turns them into men. I’m delighted for the Leeds fans, they’re great.
“I was dreading them getting relegated. That would have been horrible for them.
“They are still there and Bielsa is staying, I think they will build. A couple of people questioned him.
“The record speaks for itself. Anyone he brings in, you know they will do a job.
“He’s so good in the transfer window, he brings in Bielsa players. He knows the players who will work their socks off.
“He’s a touch of class, you have to trust what he’s doing. I don’t know the boy that well but if Leeds have signed him you would think he’s something special.”
Leeds have already signed Jack Harrison and Junior Firpo this summer.
Firpo joins from Barcelona with Harrison finally joining the club permanently after three years on loan at Elland Road.
