Rangers tipped to sell Aribo to English club in January after £10m reveal – pundit

Paddy Kenny claims Rangers will struggle to keep hold of Joe Aribo in January after his impressive recent performances.

The former Leeds United stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insists the Gers may have to cash in on one senior star this winter.

Aribo, 25, is in fine form under new boss Giovanni van Bronkhorst, scoring three and assisting two goals in his last four league games.

Rangers

A Rangers source has told Football Insider (19 October) that the club will demand a £10million-plus transfer fee for Aribo in January.

Kenny insists Rangers stand no chance of keeping the midfielder if he expresses a desire to leave.

“This is always the problem when Rangers players get linked to the Premier League,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Financially, it’s another planet. When you have players who are interesting Premier League teams it’s hard to keep them.

“We all know Rangers’ finances are poor at the moment. They might have to cash in on someone.

“They will have to consider a bid for Aribo if one comes in. Then you have the issue of does the player want to move.

“If he does then there is no stopping it. That would be a huge blow for Rangers, Aribo is playing so well at the moment.

“It’s easy to see why some of those bottom half Premier League clubs might want him.”

Aribo has made 119 appearances for the Gers.

He has scored 22 goals for the club.
