Pundit makes ‘interim’ Man United manager claim as Solskjaer set for sack

Frank McAvennie claims Manchester United must sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insists the Norwegian isn’t the man to lead the club.

Solskjaer, 48, has been in the dugout at Old Trafford since December 2018 after initially being appointed on an interim basis.

The former striker has faced continuous questions over his future since he was made permanent boss in March 2019.

The pressure was also on ahead of Sunday’s clash against Liverpool with his side winless in three in the Premier League ahead of the game.

McAvennie insists it is now time for the Red Devils to make a change in the dugout as they continue to struggle.

“I said this last year,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I said Ole is not the man to take Manchester United forward. I was hoping I was going to be wrong. “

“He’s a lovely guy and he was a wonderful player, I don’t want him to fail. That was just my opinion.

“Put him on the staff, have him at the club, I understand that. But manager?

“He was always interim for me. It always feels like we are waiting for a better manager to come along.

“He hasn’t got the tactical nous, not for me. I like the guy, I really respect him.

“But if he doesn’t go, we will still be talking about this next year. He’s been so lucky.

Man United have to make that change. It’s time. It’s an easy decision.”

In other news, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford will be fuming with Man United teammates after what pundit has just seen.
