Pundit claims Tomas Soucek victim of ‘disgrace’ at West Ham

Recent criticism of West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek is a “disgrace”.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the midfielder’s form

Czech outlet Seznam Zpravy savaged Soucek after his performance for the Czech Republic against Portugal (24 September), branding him “completely useless”.

The midfielder has failed to impress for the Hammers this term despite playing every minute of their Premier League season.

With his side sitting in the relegation zone, Kenny claims David Moyes may need to make a change in the midfield.

“For your own papers to call you useless is a disgrace,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He’s not useless. Players have bad games. Everyone in the world has had a bad day at work, we are all human beings at the end of the day.

“I’m not having that for one minute, it’s a joke. Your own papers too. On West Ham, they faded away at the back of last season, it started then.

“Last year they should have bought a striker and things might have looked better. I think it’s a snowball effect.

“They haven’t been the West Ham we have seen of last year and it’s not just Soucek. A lot of the players haven’t improved.”

Soucek became a key player for West Ham after arriving at the club from Slavia Prague initially on loan.

The move was made permanent after he scored three goals from midfield in his first 13 games.
