Pundit digs at Anthony Gordon as ‘big’ Everton transfer claim made
Anthony Gordon will not be leaving Everton anytime soon after his poor performances this season.
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the winger’s future.
According to the Daily Mail (4 January), Tottenham recruitment staff were at Goodison Park to watch Gordon on Tuesday night (3 January) in Everton’s game against Brighton.

However, the trip was fruitless as the 21-year-old missed the match against Brighton because of illness.
Gordon was the subject of interest from Spurs and London rivals Chelsea in the summer of 2022. At one stage, Chelsea were offering an £80million part-exchange package that included two players and cash.
McManus claims there is no chance of Gordon signing for a “top club” anytime soon.
“He’s not performed this season, simple as,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“There were links with some big clubs in the summer but do any of them want him now? Will he go in there and improve them?
“Not for me. Everton need a focal point or a player who everyone can look to lead the way, Gordon was meant to be that this season after playing so well last year.
“That hasn’t happened and he isn’t producing. He’s meant to be one of the creative players for Everton and they aren’t scoring.
“The blame for that lies at the feet of all of the attackers. If he was outperforming everyone and he was Everton’s only good player then maybe a bid would come in.
“But I can’t see that move to a top club happening right now.”

Gordon has started 12 of Everton’s 18 Premier League games this season, scoring three goals with the club now sitting in the relegation zone.
The Toffees are next in action against Southampton on Saturday (14 January).
