Agbonlahor digs at Firpo after Bielsa swipes at Leeds new boy
Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Junior Firpo needs to work on his defending for Leeds United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker suggested Firpo may need time to adapt to the Premier League but his early showings have not been encouraging.
The left-back has started five of the Whites’ opening six league games after missing the trip to Burnley with coronavirus.
He scored an own goal last week in the 2-1 defeat to West Ham after he was dragged out of position.
Speaking at his pre-Watford press conference, as quoted by Leeds Live, Marcelo Bielsa claimed the 25-year-old has been a “6/10” this season.
However, he backed the ex-Barcelona star to “shine a lot” when he gets used to the Premier League.

Asked for his assessment of Firpo, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “He looks OK, doesn’t he.
“You have to give players like that a little bit more time. It’s a new country with new conditions and a new league. It would be unfair to criticise him too much at this point.
“From what I’ve seen, he looks decent going forward but I’m not sure defensively he is as good.
“Maybe he just needs a little bit more time to get used to the league. You don’t want to be too harsh on him.”
Firpo moved to Elland Road from Barca over the summer for a reported fee of £12.8million.
He signed a four-year deal with the Yorkshire giants that is set to expire in the summer of 2025.
