Pundit drops ‘outstanding’ claim as Celtic close in on new signing
Celtic can benefit from new signing Kwon Hyeok-kyu’s Premier League amibitons.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers defender Alan Hutton said it is good to have confident players within the squad, as long as they can back it up.
The Hoops are set to announce the signing of Kwon in the coming days after his transfer to the Scottish top flight was already confirmed by current team Busan IPark.
Speaking to Korean outlet Naver Sports (18 July), the 22-year-old said he has ambitions to not only become the Celts’ best player but also secure a move to a top European side and cited the Premier League and Bundesliga as two future destinations.
Hutton said that having an ambitious player can be a positive or a negative.
“I suppose you can take it both ways,” he told Football Insider.
“From my point of view if somebody is coming in to my club and saying that they are using it as a stepping stone to go to a higher level I would say show me then.
“If that is the case then their thought process moving forward will be to go and kick on and to do that they have to be outstanding at the club they are at.
“I understand the thought process but they have to prove it.

“I would take it as a good thing, they are obviously confident in their own ability but you have to show it week in week out with a lot of pressure on your shoulders.
“If they can come into the club and do it they are only going to be helping you out.“
