Pundit: Elliott handed ‘huge boost’ as ‘brilliant’ Liverpool footage emerges

Harvey Elliott has been handed a “huge boost” after he was filmed back on the grass at Liverpool training, according to Danny Mills.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and England full-back insisted Elliott has taken a “big step closer” to returning to action.

Liverpool’s Twitter account posted a video earlier this week (November 15) showing the teenager stepping up his recovery at the club’s training base.

Elliott is currently unavailable with a fracture-dislocation of the ankle that he suffered against Leeds United at the beginning of September.

“It’s brilliant for Elliott,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“To get out of the treatment room, to actually get your boots on is huge. Treatment rooms can be soul-destroying at times.

“They can be great because of the camaraderie that helps you through and the relationship you build with the physios because it’s not easy.

“That’s all well and good, but getting your boots on, kicking a ball and being on the grass, even when you know you’re a little bit behind and there’s a lot of hard work to do, psychologically and mentally it is a huge boost.

“You think ‘That’s a big step closer to where I want to get back to’.”

Elliott looked set for a breakout campaign after featuring in the opening four Premier League games of the season.

He has now played 13 times across all competitions for the Reds and spent last season on loan with Championship club Blackburn Rovers.

In other news, Uefa have been told to make a major rule change as a Liverpool star is caught up in controversy.
