Pundit: Everton dressing room 'chomping at the bit' after 'huge' manager development
Noel Whelan has claimed Everton players will be “chomping at the bit” to work with Rafael Benitez.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds United striker said the dressing room at Goodison Park will have a “huge amount of respect” for the 61-year-old given what he has achieved in the game.
Football Insider revealed on 27th June that the search for Carlo Ancelotti’s successor is nearly over with only formalities to be tied up before Rafa Benitez is announced manager.
The Spaniard’s prospective appointment is proving to be highly controversial among large sections of the club’s support given his close ties to Liverpool.
As reported by the BBC yesterday, police are investigating reports that a threatening banner was left close to the home of Benitez.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs how the Everton dressing room may feel about Benitez’s seemingly imminent arrival, Whelan said:

“Benitez will be a great appointment, make no mistake about it.
“He has got so much experience in the game and he’s won just about everything so the players in the dressing room will have a huge amount of respect in him.
“He is a very likeable man as well. I imagine the players cannot wait to work with him. It’s huge. They will be chomping at the bit.
“Benitez has so much experience, like Ancelotti. You cannot do much better than Benitez really.
“If I was an Everton fan I would be hoping he can emulate the success he had at Liverpool.
“There is a number of exciting players at the club and I believe he is a manager who can get the best out of them.”
