Gabriel Agbonlahor has suggested Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford could be dropped against Newcastle United on Wednesday night.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley, the former Aston Villa and England striker claimed the 27-year-old struggled against West Ham United on Friday night.
According to WhoScored, Bamford had just one shot on target against the Hammers although he did win the penalty that Mateusz Klich scored from to open the scoring.
The game extended his baron run at Elland Road in the Premier League with just one of his eight goals this season coming at home.
Both Rodrigo and Bamford started against the Irons, just the fourth time they have lined up together.
Club-record summer signing Rodrigo operated as a striker at his former club Valencia but has been utilised as an attacking midfielder by Marcelo Bielsa.
However, with the Whites’ in the middle of a run of just one win in their last six top-flight fixtures, Agbonlahor has suggested Bielsa could change his approach.
He told Football Insider: “Leeds are a good side, I’ve said it numerous times but they need to find a way now to get wins.
“Bamford won the penalty but didn’t have many chances in the game.
“Maybe Rodrigo might start the next game and Bamford won’t play. That’s something the manager could look to do.”
Rodrigo, 29, has scored just once for the Yorkshire giants since his £29million move from La Liga in August.
Last season he scored seven goals in 34 games across all competitions for Valencia.
