Noel Whelan has tipped Marcelo Bielsa to drop Rodrigo Moreno tomorrow for the Leeds United Premier League trip to Sheffield United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the former Whites and Coventry striker claimed that Pablo Hernandez “should be fit” for the clash at Bramall Lane.
Hernandez, 35, was injured in the warm up to Saturday’s 4-3 win over Fulham at Elland Road but Bielsa insisted that it is not a serious problem.
Rodrigo, who joined in a club-record £27million deal earlier this summer, was given the nod to start in place of the Spanish midfielder but was replaced Tyler Roberts at half-time.
The former Valencia player did play the full 90 minutes of last week’s EFL Cup exit at the hands of League One side Hull City.
When asked by Football Insider if he expected Rodrigo to be involved from the off against Sheffield United, Whelan said: “I do not think Rodrigo will start.
“Pablo should be fit, I do not think it is too serious. It is more of a precaution than anything. I
“f Rodrigo does start then he has had another full week of training and coaching with the team. That will stand him in good stead.
“There is no way he is taking Bamford’s place up front the way he has started the season. He is playing so well at the moment. Rodrigo is not going to be the main striker.”
When speaking on Pablo’s injury after the Fulham win, Bielsa said: “It’s not private, it was a knock to his groin. He wanted to be cautious.
“Pablo had a small knock in the warm-up. We don’t think it’s very serious.”
