Pundit Exclusive: Celtic set for 'Substantial' windfall after big update
Alan Hutton has claimed Celtic will still pick up a “substantial” sell-on fee despite Moussa Dembele’s fall in valuation at Olympique Lyonnais.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Rangers and Scotland defender has admitted a fall in asking price will be a “blow” to the Hoops.
As reported by the Scottish Sun, Lyon have cut their transfer demands for the 24-year-old to around £30million, which will, in turn, impact Celtic and their 10 per cent sell-on clause.
The reduced fee means the Hoops, who sold Dembele for around £20million in 2018, are set to receive less than they would have had the striker been sold over the summer transfer window.
However, Hutton is adamant the Bhoys will still rake in a healthy figure should their former star end up moving in the near future.
Hutton told Football Insider: “It’s a blow but I think throughout the world, every club is affected and fees will be the same across the board.

“So it is what it is, it’s unfortunate for Celtic but it’s going to happen to everybody. In my opinion. It’s out of their hands, they’ve got no say as to what the price is to sell him on.
“They’ll obviously want it to be as high as possible but I’m pretty sure that anything coming will still be a substantial fee I’d have thought. So anything that does come in, I’m sure they’ll be happy with.”
However, he has not netted in any of his opening 10 outings for the Ligue 1 outfit this season.
