Pundit Exclusive: Leeds backed to seal two January signings after injury update
Gabriel Agbonlahor has tipped Leeds United to sign a couple of defenders in January.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley, the former Aston Villa and England striker admitted he will be worried for the Whites if captain Liam Cooper is ruled out for a substantial period of time.
Manager Marcelo Bielsa revealed after Leeds’ 6-2 drubbing by Manchester United that Cooper had picked up a knock.
The seriousness of the injury is not yet known but Bielsa is already down to the bare bones in defence with right-back Luke Ayling coming into the heat of the backline in recent weeks.
The Yorkshire giants will be without summer signing Robin Koch until at least February after he was forced to undergo knee surgery earlier this month.
Koch aggravated the injury against Chelsea and was replaced with Deigo Llorente who after making his debut at Stamford Bridge has not played since.

With Cooper potentially also facing a period on the sidelines, Agbonlahor has suggested Bielsa will be forced into signing a replacement in the January window.
He told Football Insider: “That’s the problem with Leeds at the moment – their defence.
“If Liam Cooper’s out it’s going to be even more of a struggle and teams are going to look to attack them even more because their defence is shaky.
“They probably need to make a couple of transfers in the January window because that defence is going to leak a lot of goals.”
After shipping six at Old Trafford, Leeds now have the worst defensive record in the top-flight and have conceded 30 league goals this term.
When they secured the Championship title last season, Bielsa’s side only conceded 35 goals in 46 games.
