Pundit expects Man United to now sack Solskjaer after Sky update

Alan Hutton has admitted it will be “very difficult” for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to avoid the sack at Manchester United after defeat to Liverpool.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland defender insisted he cannot see the Norwegian boss turning things around at Old Trafford.

As reported by Sky Sports on Tuesday (26th October), Solskjaer is expected to remain in charge despite a series of poor performances and results.

The Red Devils were thrashed 5-0 by fierce rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Solkjaer is said to be a popular as a man among the Manchester United squad.

However, some players reportedly have reservations about the 48-year-old’s coaching methods and ability to lead the club to greater success.

Hutton admitted he does not believe Solskjaer will be able to get the club to where they want to be.

Asked if he thought Solksjaer could turn things around and avoid the sack, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I think it’s very difficult.

“We all know that he’s a club legend and stuff but that’s his playing career. I mean we’re talking about Manchester United.

“The players that are brought in and the expectation levels are through the roof.

“To get beat at home that easily, and be that wide open, it could have been even more.

“The Leicester game before that wasn’t great. They’re just sitting in a situation where it would be really difficult for the manager to continue, if I’m honest.
