Pundit ‘fears the worst’ for Callum Wilson after Newcastle United injury update – ‘it’s a big problem’
Kevin Campbell has claimed Callum Wilson’s injury record is “a big problem” for Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton goalscorer questioned the 30-year-old’s ability to play 10 games in succession.
Wilson scored for the Magpies in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Man City on Sunday (21 August).
He was later withdrawn with tightness in his hamstring.
As reported by journalist Miles Starforth (23 August), the club are awaiting the results of a scan on the centre-forward’s injury.
Wilson has suffered with hamstring problems in the two previous campaigns.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the striker’s latest injury, Campbell said: “You fear the worst when Wilson gets injured.
“Listen, the only problem with him is his availability. We all know what he can do.
“He is big, strong, direct, know his way around the box and can finish. He has worked with Eddie Howe now for a number of years so he knows what is needed. Wilson is a handful for all defenders. Centre-halves know they have been in a game when they play against him.

“The issue for Newcastle is, they have a really good striker who cannot stay fit.
“Can he play 10 to 15 games on the bounce? It does not look like he can at the moment. That is a big problem.”
In other news, a pundit has claimed Newcastle United could seal a ‘great’ deal for Jack Harrison after source’s new update.
