Pundit hails Reo Hatate’s Celtic ‘sacrifice’ as footage emerges

Alan Hutton has hailed Reo Hatate’s “sacrifice” for Celtic.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers defender said Ange Postecoglou will be relieved knowing he has a player who can fill in at right-back when he is out of options.

As shown on Sky Sports (24 December), despite playing at right-back, the 25-year-old scored twice to help the Hoops secure a 4-1 win over St Johnstone.

As quoted by the Daily Record (24 December), Postecoglou said Hatate has “set the bar high” for his other full-backs as the midfielder filled in for the injured Anthony Ralston and World Cup runner up Josip Juranovic.

Hutton was impressed by Hatate’s display at the weekend.

He is full of energy, he gets up and down and he wants to make things happen in the attacking third,” he told Football Insider.

“As a modern day full-back that is what you need to be able to do. I think he slotted in really well.

He was up for it and I think that is the main thing, knowing that you have got a player who will sacrifice himself for the greater good of the team.

So it was good to see. He has got a problem moving forward, is Ralston going to be back, is Juranovic going to be fit. He knows that Hatate can fill in there if needed and play well so he is probably happy with the outcome of the game.
