Pundit hails ‘two of the best ever’ at Aston Villa as ‘brilliant’ McGinn leads the way
Frank McAvennie has been wowed by John McGinn’s form under new Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard.
The former Villains striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, predicts other Villa stars will also go to another level under the Liverpool legend.
McGinn, 27, hasn’t missed a minute of football since Gerrard moved to Villa.

He has scored one goal and picked up one assist as Villa recorded three wins from Gerrard’s opening four games.
McAvennie predicts other Aston Villa players will follow McGinn’s example over the coming months.
“Gerrard is a total pro,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He’s proving himself and that’s great to see. Some players just don’t have the ability to do that.
“He’s inspiring those players. You can see they would run through brick walls for Gerrard already.
“I look at players like John McGinn, he’s been brilliant under Gerrard. He’s gone to another level.
“What a feeling it must be for him to wake up every morning and to then work with Steven Gerrard and Gary McAllister.
“They are two of the best to ever do it and that can only benefit Villa.
“No disrespect to Dean Smith, but Gerrard is a cut above in terms of his stature in the game.

“It’s no surprise to me. McGinn has improved and it won’t be long before others do too.
“It’s a really exciting time for Villa.”
