Pundit hammers Man United as Scholes ‘bang on’ in new swipe at Solskjaer
Paul Scholes was “bang on” with his assessment of Man United and their struggles under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to Kevin Phillips.
The former Sunderland and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, slaughtered the Red Devils after their “unacceptable” performance against Liverpool.
Solskjaer’s position at Old Trafford is under incredible pressure following a 5-0 home defeat against the Reds on Sunday.
Speaking to BT Sport on Wednesday, club legend Scholes hammered United despite their 3-2 win over Atalanta.
He predicted Solskjaer’s side would be well beaten if they played similarly against Liverpool and it came to pass.
Phillips insisted Scholes had “every right” to slaughter the performance against Atalanta.
“Man United are simply not good enough right now,” he told Football Insider. “It is as simple as that.
“The performance against Atalanta papered over a few cracks. They should have won that game comfortably. I completely understood Scholes’ criticism.
“There is huge pressure on Solskjaer now. It comes with the territory when you are manager of that club. They need to win football matches. The manner of the performances are not acceptable.

“Scholes had every right to say what he said and he was bang on. United do not have an identity. I would have to agree with that. Are they a pressing team or are they a team who sits in and hits teams on the counter attack?
” Unfortunately, the buck stops with Solskjaer. He is going to come under criticism.”
