Pundit in no doubt about Curtis Jones after confirmed Liverpool news
Alan Hutton has told Curtis Jones to grab any opportunity he gets at Liverpool with both hands.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said Jones will be an important part of the club moving forward.
The 21-year-old started on the bench for the Reds in the 3-0 win over Ajax on Wednesday (26 October) and was subbed on for the final 25 minutes.
The midfielder was also in the starting lineup for Jurgen Klopp’s side in the 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday (22 October).
Jones faced ten weeks on the sidelines after aggravating an injury at the start of the season with a stress reaction.
As quoted by the Liverpool Echo (23 October), the England under-21 international said he now has a “point to prove” at Liverpool.
The Reds are currently missing Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Arthur Melo through injury.
When asked how important it is for Jones to step up whilst the squad is depleted, Hutton told Football Insider: “Obviously he has been out himself.
“With him coming back in, Klopp will know what he is capable of. He has been in the set-up for a number of seasons now.
“I think moving forward the likes of him, Harvey Elliott, these are hopefully the guys who are going to take the club forward in that midfield.

“Of course it is an opportunity when somebody gets injured or a space opens up for you. It is like any player at any team, you have to grasp it with both hands.
“He has definitely got the ability but it is about proving it at a high level consistently to keep your name on the team sheet.“
