Pundit issues ‘big’ Chelsea claim as Joao Felix footage emerges
Graham Potter has a “big” task to deal with all the new players at Chelsea.
That’s according to former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Joao Felix’s arrival at Stamford Bridge.
Felix opened his Premier League account with the opening goal in the Blues’ 1-1 draw with West Ham on Saturday (11 February).
In footage shared by club media (11 February), with the help of fellow winter arrival Enzo Fernandez, the 23-year-old found the back of the net for the London club.
Felix joined Potter’s side on loan from Atletico Madrid last month and will remain in England until the end of the season.
According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, as relayed by Blues Footy on Twitter (8 February), Atletico are hoping Felix has a few “dream” months in London that will convince Chelsea to pay the £124million release clause in the summer.
McAvennie said Potter has a job on his hands to get all the players firing.
“I think the fans like him,” he told Football Insider.

“But they are in a good position because if he does not hack it then he can go back. Loan deals are not a bad thing because some players just can’t hack it at the club.
“Potter has got loads of players now, he is just in and has got players that he did not want. Once he sorts all that out, which is a big ask, I think players will start thriving again. I have a feeling Joao Felix will rise to the top at Chelsea.“
In other news, according to sources, Chelsea are plotting box-office signing that could be their biggest yet.
