Pundit issues 'big' Miguel Almiron claim after 'unthinkable' Newcastle United development

Miguel Almiron could earn Newcastle United two league places at the end of the season if his outstanding form continues.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the winger’s latest accolade.

Almiron was awarded October’s Premier League Player of the Month award on Friday (11 November).

The winger scored six goals during the month as Newcastle picked up 16 from a possible 18 points.

McManus insists such a development would have been “unthinkable” even a few months ago.

“A lot of unpredictable things have happened since the takeover and a lot has been said about Almiron,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“Being even nominated for this award represents so much for Newcastle and for Almiron. I mean, you look at the big players who usually win the award, Haaland, people like that.

“Almiron has been better than any of them. That would be unthinkable even a few months ago. What if he keeps this going?

“You have a player there who could score near 20 goals in the Premier League, challenging for the golden boot.

“That’s worth at least two or three places at the end of the season.”

Almiron has now scored eight goals in 14 league appearances this season after only scoring once last season.

Newcastle United are next in action against Chelsea on Saturday (12 November).
