Pundit issues 'brilliant' Arsenal prediction after what he's seen in pre-season
Arsenal will once again be challenging for a top-four spot in the 2022-23 Premier League after an impressive pre-season.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Gunners’ impressive end to pre-season.
Arsenal beat Chelsea 4-0 during their last pre-season game in America (24 July) and beat Sevilla 6-0 during their final pre-season game on Saturday (30 July).
The Gunners narrowly lost out on a Champions League place last season after losing two of their last three Premier League games.
Mikel Arteta has bolstered his squad with the signings of Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira and Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kenny claims his side can go one better than last season.
“It builds confidence, even though it is only pre-season,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I always find it difficult that Premier League teams play each other, I don’t get it. I have always found it strange, you don’t see Championship or League One clubs doing that.
“Tuchel came out after that game and was really upset with his Chelsea team but you have to remember it’s only pre-season.
“When the whistle goes on the first day of the season, that’s when the nitty gritty starts. You always want to win games so it isn’t the be-all and end-all.
“Arsenal look in good form, they are playing some brilliant stuff from what I have seen. I think they will be challenging for the top four again this season.”
Arsenal face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in the opening game of the new Premier League season on Friday (5 July).
The Gunners lost the same fixture 3-0 last season.
