Pundit issues ‘crazy’ verdict on Newcastle signing Tarkowski after latest update
It would be “crazy” if Newcastle United are able to complete a deal with Burnley for James Tarkowski, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Burnley would be waving the white flag in the relegation battle if they were to sell Tarkowski to Newcastle.
The Sun’s Alan Nixon reported on Saturday (22 January), the north-east giants are leading the race for the England international.

It is claimed Burnley are willing to sell the centre-back and West Ham and Leicester City have turned their attention to other targets.
Newcastle already poached the Clarets’ star striker Chris Wood earlier this month as they took advantage of his £25million release clause.
And therefore Agbonlahor admitted there is almost zero chance Burnley will do business with Newcastle again this month.
He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I don’t see Burnley selling Tarkowski as well.
“If they do that they might as well stop playing because you’re giving your relegation rivals your two best players.
“They didn’t have a choice with Chris Wood because of the release clause but if they sell Tarkowski that’s just crazy.
“The money that Newcastle are willing to spend for someone who has six months left on his contract it’s not something Burnley will look at.
“Maybe on the summer when he’s on a free transfer but at the moment I don’t see them offering enough money for Burnley to sell.”

Tarkowski has started all but one of Burnley’s Premier League games this term.
The 29-year-old also has two England caps to his name.
