Pundit issues emphatic Arthur Melo claim after Liverpool teammate's 'amazing' reveal

Alan Hutton has claimed Arthur Melo will be a “quick fix” for Liverpool this season.

However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said Arthur will not be the long-term answer for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

On 1 September, the club confirmed the signing of the 26-year-old from Juventus on a season-long loan.

The Brazilian was on the bench for Liverpool’s Champions League opener against Napoli (7 September).

He was subbed on for the final 15 minutes of the 4-1 defeat to the Italian side.

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo (6 September), Klopp said the midfielder is “not ready” to play a full game.

At the same press conference, Reds goalkeeper Allisson Becker revealed he is looking forward to playing with Arthur, who he described as “an amazing guy”.

When asked if Melo could be the answer to Liverpool’s midfield problems, Hutton told Football Insider: “Short term, yes.

I think that’s why they got him in on loan and didn’t actually go out and pay big money for him.

When you look at Liverpool and who they sign, it’s kind of long-term targets. I know they keep talking about Jude Bellingham next summer, the midfield is an area they will definitely want to strengthen.

I think they’ve got their targets in mind and making sure they get those ones. It’s a quick fix at this moment in time, help out the team, good player no doubt about it but long term I’m sure they’ll want a solution for the midfield.
