Pundit issues Everton exodus claim after £60m news

Everton may not have to lose another big-name player this summer after the sale of Richarlison.

That’s according to former Rangers and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the possibility of more exits from Goodison Park.

Tottenham confirmed the signing of Richardson, 25, on Friday morning (1 July), as he became the club’s fourth summer signing.

Sky Sports report Spurs have paid £50million upfront with a further £10million in add-ons agreed.

It had been suggested Everton would need to offload at least one high-profile player this summer after losing £385million over the last four seasons.

McLeish hopes Richarlison is the only high-profile player to leave Goodison this summer.

“Frank and his analysts have a little black book of players he will want to bring in,” McLeish told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild

“Now Richarlison has gone there is a void that needs to be filled. The Everton fans will be anticipating new faces soon.

“Especially considering the fight they had to stay in the Premier League last season. Replacing Richarlison means replacing his character.

“He’s an exciting player, he dribbles and he’s tremendous in the air. He went for a lot of money so they have to replace him for less than that fee and bring other players in.

“You hope for Everton that this is the last of the big-name players to go.”

Richarlison scored 10 goals in 30 Premier League appearances during the 2021-22 campaign.

Those strikes took his total haul for Everton to 53 goals in 152 games.
