Pundit issues ‘huge’ Everton signing verdict after source’s Che Adams reveal

Frank McAvennie has claimed any player wanting to sign for Everton is “stupid”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker insisted the Toffees won’t sign any new players in the final days of the January window.

On Saturday (28 January), Football Insider revealed that Everton have reignited their interest in Southampton forward Che Adams.

The Merseysiders are in the market for two attacking signings before the window shuts on Tuesday (31 January) after agreeing to sell Anthony Gordon to Newcastle United.

Everton are currently without a manager after sacking Frank Lampard following a poor run of results.

On Friday (27 January), sources told Football Insider that Sean Dyche has an agreement in principle to be the new Everton manager.

But McAvennie insisted the Goodison Park club will struggle to attract any new players at the moment.

They have not got a manager so they are not going to sign anyone in this window,” he told Football Insider.

Nobody is going to sign now because they might not fit the style of the new manager. I think players nowadays are more conscious of that.

You would be foolish to go to a club, even though they are huge, that are in a relegation battle.

I just think it would be stupid for players to go to a club that don’t have a manager yet. Sometimes managers just don’t take to you.
