Pundit issues intriguing Sadio Mane-Raheem Sterling verdict after what he saw at Liverpool
Kevin Campbell has claimed Sadio Mane will be a bigger miss for Liverpool than Raheem Sterling for Man City on the evidence of the weekend.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker said Mane’s “influence” in “big moments” will be missed by Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Liverpool struggled to a 2-2 draw at Fulham on Saturday (6 August).
Luis Diaz, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah started as the front three for the Reds, with substitute Darwin Nunez having a great impact from the bench.
Man City kicked off their Premier League campaign with a 2-0 win over West Ham on Sunday (7 August).
Erling Haaland scored twice for the champions playing alongside Jack Grealish and Phil Foden.
When asked by Football Insider if Mane or Sterling would be a bigger miss for their side this season, Campbell said: “I’ve got to say Mane.
“There was times last season were Sterling wasn’t playing. I think Man City had already established a way around it.
“Liverpool didn’t miss Mane in the Community Shield but when you most need him he comes up trumps, always. They will miss him in big moments.
“He could play left and through the middle. He was a problem for a lot of teams.

“It will be interesting to see how Liverpool cope when the games are tight. Who will step up? Nunez and Salah stepped up at the weekend but it wasn’t enough.
“I think Liverpool will miss Mane more because of how influential he was in the big games.”
