Pundit issues ‘mad’ Mark Noble dressing room claim as West Ham news confirmed

David Moyes is missing Mark Noble’s influence in the West Ham dressing room.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Hammers’ newest appointment.

On 22 September, the club confirmed the 35-year-old will be taking up the role of sporting director in January 2023.

Noble retired at the end of the 2021-22 season, ending his 18-year playing career by registering the last of his 550 appearances for the Irons.

The Hammers have registered just two wins from their last 14 Premier League games after qualifying for European football in each of the last two seasons.

Kenny insists West Ham are missing Noble’s influence in the dressing room.

“It’s mad that Noble isn’t in that dressing room,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He had been there for so long, best part of 20 years and now he isn’t. That has to have an impact. I do wonder if that has contributed to the loss of form.

“It won’t just be that but lots of things could be causing this poor run of form. Not having an experienced head in there claiming everyone down may be something they are missing.

“You need those leaders in the dressing room and sometimes on the pitch as well. It is no surprise to see Noble come back to the club in some capacity.

“It was always going to happen. My question is, how will this help?

“Is him coming back in this role going to help turn things around? Probably not. But it’s can’t make things any worse.”
