Pundit issues ‘massive’ Howe claim after behind-the-scenes Newcastle reveal

Paul Robinson has lauded Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe for inspiring “a change of attitude and application” on Tyneside.

However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Premier League goalkeeper fears saving the Magpies is “a massive ask” for the 44-year-old.

Newcastle registered their first win of the season on Saturday after beating Burnley 1-0 at St. James’ Park.

As quoted by the Chronicle yesterday (6 December), Howe detailed how “lots of psychological work with the players” helped bring the victory.

However, Robinson believes the Magpies were lucky to collect all three points on Saturday.

“It was a massive win for them,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“A lot was wrong there before Eddie Howe came in. Make no mistake about it, he has got a huge job on his hands to keep them up.

“It was a narrow, scraped win against Burnley on Saturday. I watched the game and I do not think Newcastle deserved to win. Burnley should have got something out of the game. A draw would have been a fair result.

“Both clubs are in a perilous position. Nobody is making a real play to get out of there.

“It is a massive ask for Eddie Howe to get them out.

“Yes, there has been a change of attitude and application since he has come in. You’d hope the win against Burnley can lead to a run of results but they have such a tough run of fixtures now.”

Newcastle United

Newcastle face Leicester City, Liverpool, Man City, Manchester United and Everton in their next five fixtures.

Howe’s side sit 19th in the Premier League table.

In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed Newcastle fans will love ‘encouraging’ commercial deal update.
