Pundit issues 'massive' Marcus Rashford claim as Man United talks lined up

Marcus Rashford has a “massive” part to play in the future of Man United.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the attacker’s future.

According to The Sun‘s Neil Custis (7 September), United are set to reward Rashford’s early season form with the offer of a new five-year deal.

Rashford has starred for the Red Devils this season and produced a match-winning display against Arsenal on 4 September.

The England international has one year remaining on his current deal though the club have the option to extend it by a further 12 months.

Kenny has been impressed by what he has seen from Rashford this term after a poor 2021-22 campaign.

“Rashford has been pretty good in recent weeks, you have to say,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“There were doubts over him last season, I think he only scored a couple of goals and he was injured for a lot of the time.

“I guess they are in no rush to give him a new deal, with the two years he has left but it can’t hurt to tie him down.

“He’s an unbelievable player on his day and if he can find that form again then he can be a massive part of Man United’s future.”

Rashford has scored three goals and provided two assists in six Premier League outings this season.

Last term he scored four goals in 25 top flight appearances.
