Pundit issues 'massive' Morelos claim as Rangers plan to transform him revealed

Alfredo Morelos could hand Rangers a “massive boost” by “recapturing his best form” under Giovanni van Bronckhorst, according to Noel Whelan.

The former Aberdeen striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 25-year-old could be one of the Ibrox club’s “best ever” strikers.

Morelos scored a brace as Rangers defeated Sparta Prague 2-0 to secure their Europa League knockout round place in Van Bronckhorst’s first game in charge last Thursday (November 25th).

Speaking after the game, as quoted by the Daily Record, the Dutchman insisted the Colombian did “really well”.

He also lifted the lid on a plan to get the hitman closer to the 18-yard-box.

Van Bronckhorst insisted the quality service provided by the wingers at Rangers will hand the striker plenty of chances.

Whelan suggested the former Feyenoord manager’s arrival has provoked a reaction from the players – including Morelos.

“It’ll be a really massive boost if he can recapture his best form this season,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“We’ve already seen the relationship with Van Bronckhorst bearing fruit. Morelos is a top goalscorer – he could be one of the best Rangers have ever had.

“It doesn’t seem like the change of manager has got him down at all – obviously he had that one blip with Gerrard just before he left.

“Since then, the manager has come in and there’s been a reaction from the players. They’ve hit the ground running.

“It looks like it’s going to be an exciting season with European campaigns in the mix for Celtic and Rangers.”

Morelos has scored nine goals in 23 Rangers appearances this term.
