Pundit issues 'unbelievable' Man United claim fans 'won't want to hear'

Man United made a mistake in appointing Ralf Rangnick and his side will not improve this season.

That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the German’s performance.

Man United scraped through to the fourth round of the FA Cup despite a sub-par performance against Aston Villa on Monday (10 January).

The Red Devils are yet to impress under Rangnick and McAvennie predicts fans won’t see an improvement while he is at the helm.

He also slammed club chiefs for appointing him in the first place.

“The fans won’t want to hear this but it’s not good enough,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I used to love going there and scoring goals but from top to bottom we aren’t seeing enough from the club.

“Man United are still the biggest club in the world but the team is miles away from being the best in the world.

“They are appointing temporary managers. This is unbelievable for a club like Man United.

“That’s why they are playing so poorly, no one respects the manager.

“They all know he won’t be the manager next year so why bother to learn this style?

“I don’t even think that style is particularly good, this 4-2-2-2 thing.

“I know how footballers think and it’s no surprise to me that the players aren’t playing for the manager.

“Appointing him was just another in a long line of mistakes made by the club since Fergie left.”
