Pundit lambasts FSG after 'embarrassing' new Salah development at Liverpool
Frank McAvennie has slammed Liverpool for not agreeing a new deal with Mo Salah over the past few months.
The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider,
told the club to pay Salah whatever he wants.
As quoted by GQ on Monday (11 January), Salah revealed the club “know what I want” in terms of a new contract and insisted he is “not asking for crazy stuff”.
An Anfield source told Football Insider last month (11 December) that the Reds are hopeful of agreeing terms after “tricky” negotiations.
As detailed by this site back in October, Salah wants a £500,000-a-week, four-and-a-half-year deal.
McAvennie admitted he thought the attacker’s contract situation would have been sorted by now.

“What are they doing? How have Liverpool and FSG not sorted this?” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“We have been talking about this for months and all Salah does is keep scoring and keep proving why he’s the best around.
“I thought it would have been done by now, to be honest. It’s a bit embarrassing that they aren’t stumping up and Salah has had to come out and say this.
“Salah clearly wants a pay rise and he deserves one considering his form over the last few years.
“He says he’s not asking for loads, I’m sure it’s worth it for Liverpool.
“The guy could singlehandedly win them trophies over the next few years, you can’t buy that.
“Just pay the man what he wants.”
Salah’s current contract at Anfield is set to run until 2023.
He has scored 23 goals in 26 appearances across all competitions this season and is currently away at AFCON with Egypt.
