Pundit ‘loves’ what he’s heard from Fabio Carvalho at Liverpool

Kevin Campbell has heaped praise on Liverpool summer signing Fabio Carvalho for his “ambition and drive”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker is also “very impressed” with how the 20-year-old performed in the Merseyside derby.

Carvalho joined Liverpool from Fulham in the summer.

The attacking midfielder made his full debut in a goalless draw at Everton on Saturday (3 September).

Speaking to The PFA‘s Youtube channel (5 September), Carvalho revealed he wants to win “a few Ballon d’Ors” and “a few Champions Leagues” in his career.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his reaction to the player’s comments, Campbell said: “I love to hear that ambition.

“He has the ambition and drive to be the very best. He is not going to rest on his laurels just because he is at Liverpool. It sounds like he wants to dominate and be a top player.

“I was very impressed with him in the Merseyside derby. A young player making his debut in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park. I was thinking, ‘How is he going to handle the physicality and crowd?’

“Let me tell you, that kid can play. He can play. He was not overrated. You could see he was working hard and had quality on the ball.

“Sadly he picked up the dead leg which is why he had to make the change. I was very impressed with his ability.”
