Pundit makes ‘big’ Calvin Ramsay claim after new Liverpool development

Calvin Ramsay could soon be included in the Liverpool first team after an impressive display for the club’s under-21s.

That is the view of former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the “big boost” for the 19-year-old.

Ramsay joined Liverpool from Aberdeen in the summer.

The right-back is yet to make his debut for the Reds because of ankle injury.

On Tuesday (18 October), Ramsay scored and impressed as a second-half substitute for Liverpool’s under-21s against Accrington Stanley.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Ramsay’s start to life at Anfield, Campbell said: “It has been a difficult start for him.

“The truth of the matter is, injuries are part and parcel of being a footballer. You never know what is around the corner. Injuries can hit you at any time.

“It has been tough for the young man but I am sure he has learnt a lot from it. I’m sure Liverpool have learnt a lot about him as well.

“It is great that he is on the road to a full recovery. To score and play well for the under-21s will be a big boost for him considering what has happened since joining the club.

“There might be an opportunity for him in the coming weeks. That would be great for him. Let’s watch this space. Hopefully he comes into the squad.”
