Pundit makes ‘big’ David Turnbull claim as Celtic move on the cards
Alan Hutton has claimed David Turnbull has a “big question” over his Celtic future.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers right-back insisted Turnbull has got “a lot to offer” Ange Postecoglou’s side but needs to decide if he is happy to be a “bit part” player.
As quoted by footballscotland (21 January), the Hoops boss said he is not willing to let the 23-year-old leave Parkhead this month.
The Aussie insisted the midfielder is an important part of what he is building with the Glasgow giants and claimed the Scotland international has been “unlucky” in recent weeks.
Postecoglou insisted Turnbull will be involved in the second half of the year.
When asked if Turnbull should be looking for a way out, Hutton told Football Insider: “He is answering his critics.
“You can only do as well as when you are on the pitch and that is what he is all about. He is getting into areas and scoring goals.
“We know there is a lot of competition at Celtic in those forward areas and it is always going to be difficult.
“I think he will believe in himself. He will want to stay there and prove his worth to the team. Ultimately if you are not getting the opportunity that is when you have to look to go out and play elsewhere.
“He wants to play on the international level as well, it is going to affect that. I still believe he has got a lot of offer the Celtic team.

“Does he want to sit on the bench and be a bit part player? That is a big question that he is going to have to answer soon enough.
“His goals recently, he is putting himself out there and showing that he can handle it.“
