Pundit makes ‘big’ N’Golo Kante transfer claim after Liverpool source’s reveal
Frank McAvennie has insisted N’Golo Kante could “play anywhere” amid links to Liverpool.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said the “biggest problem” with Kante is the injury worries.
On 27 February, sources told this site that the Reds are closely monitoring the 31-year-old as they eye up a midfield overhaul in the summer.
The midfielder has been locked in contract negotiations with Chelsea over an extension to his current deal which expires in the summer.
The Blues consider Kante talks a top priority after negotiations with Mason Mount stalled.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are keeping an eye on Kante’s negotiating in case they collapse.
The Frenchman has made just two appearances for the London club this season after picking up a hamstring injury at the start of the season.
When asked if the playmaker would fit in at Liverpool, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I think he could play anywhere.
“But it is whether somebody would take him or not, he is injured a lot now. That is his biggest problem.
“The midfield at Liverpool get run over the top of. I am a big fan of [Jordan] Henderson and Fabinho but they get shown up.

“You look at Liverpool and the players that they bring on off the bench and you look at the likes of Man City who is on their bench.
“[James] Milner has been a great servant but if that is who you are bringing on then the cupboard is a bit bare. That is what Liverpool have to solve.“
