Pundit makes ‘big’ Rangers signing claim after Cho Gue-sung reveal – ‘talking £4m’

Frank McAvennie has insisted Rangers have too many “big players” that are not getting game time.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker can’t see the Gers signing anyone in January, especially not a £3/£4million striker.

According to footballscotland (9 January), the Light Blues are keeping an eye on Celtic target Cho Gue-sung, 24, but no formal bid has been lodged yet.

The Hoops are believed to have made an offer of close to £3million for the South Korea international and Michael Beale’s side are said to be monitoring the situation.

Rangers’ attacking options are getting sparse with Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent both set to leave at the end of the season for free after failing to agree new contracts.

Last month (10 December), Football Insider revealed that the Light Blues have been unable to agree a new contract with Morelos after he demanded £45,000-per-week.

But, speaking to Sky Sports (6 January), Michael Beale said he has spoken to at least two players who are keen to join the Glasgow club “sooner rather than later”.

When asked if the Gers have any chance in the race to land Cho, Hutton told Football Insider:

I can’t see Rangers going for anyone,” he told Football Insider.

Unless somebody does not like Ange I do not see why they would not go to Celtic.

Rangers

He is talking about £3/4m for a striker, Rangers are not going to pay that.

It is not a sleight on Rangers they just have a lot of big players there that have not played. It is a challenge for Rangers.

In other news, a Glasgow pundit has issued ‘massive’ Rangers claim as John Souttar cited – ‘they are buying players…’
