Pundit makes bold Calvert-Lewin claim after confirmed Everton news
Frank McAvennie insists Everton are “really missing” Dominic Calvert-Lewin amid the latest on his fitness.
The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims the striker would have scored at least twice against West Ham last week.
Speaking at his press conference on Friday (22nd October), Benitez confirmed Calvert-Lewin, 24, could be out for another “four or five” weeks.
The striker has only appeared in the Toffees’ opening three Premier League games this season after being blighted by injury.
However, he did pick up three goals across those outings before fracturing his toe.
Everton are having an excellent season but lost at home to West Ham in their last league game after missing a host of chances.
McAvennie claims Calvert-Lewin could have won that game for the Blues and claims they will go to “another level” when he returns.
“They are really missing the boy Calvert-Lewin in attack,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He scored so many goals last season and if he had been there against West Ham he probably would have scored a few.
“Everton have been really good this season. Imagine how good they will be once he’s back.
“In that West Ham game, they had so many chances and just couldn’t take them.
“That’s where he’s missed. Everton just don’t look the same without him.
“He takes them to another level.”

Calvert-Lewin scored 16 goals in 33 Premier League outings last season.
He also started 2020-21 in fine fashion, scoring seven in his first five outings.
In other news, Football Insider can reveal Everton are plotting a raid to sign this international playmaker in January.
