Pundit makes bold Newcastle prediction after latest Willock update from Sky

Paul Robinson has predicted Newcastle United could push for the Premier League top ten with the signing of Joe Willock from Arsenal.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former England goalkeeper insisted the midfielder, plus winger Allan Saint-Maximin, may help the Magpies improve on last season’s 12th-place finish.

Sky Sports reported yesterday (9th August) that Newcastle had agreed a fee of £25million with Arsenal.

Newcastle fans were also handed a positive boost with regards to the future of French winger Allan Saint-Maximin.

Manager Steve Bruce confirmed that the fan favourite was “100% staying” at the club after a friendly win against Norwich on Saturday (7th August).

Paul Robinson hinted that he thinks this news could mean a promising season for Newcastle.

He told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs: “It’s great value for a young, very good player.

“All Newcastle have got to do now is convince him to come as he doesn’t sound overly convinced at the moment.

“It sounds like the two clubs have agreed the fee, but there’s still a bit of work to be done with the personal terms.

“I think if they can get Willock and keep Saint-Maximin then they will have a really good season, probably better than last season.

“I think a lot is down to keeping Saint-Maximin but Steve Bruce came out the other day and said he’s almost 100% sure they will keep him.

“Reading between the lines that probably means that unless an extortionate bid comes in, he’s staying here.”

Willock scored eight goals in 14 games during a loan spell on Tyneside last season which saw his stock skyrocket.
