Pundit makes emphatic Liverpool prediction after 'huge' Thiago Alcantara development

Alan Hutton has claimed it will be “huge” for Liverpool to have Thiago Alcantara back in the starting XI.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender suggested the Reds are in line for an “eight-game winning streak”.

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo (6 September), Jurgen Klopp revealed the 31-year-old has returned to training this week.

He was on the bench for Liverpool’s Champions League opener with Napoli on Wednesday (8 September).

The midfielder was subbed on for the final half an hour of the 4-1 defeat.

Thiago had been unavailable for the Reds since suffering a hamstring injury in the second half of a 2-2 draw at Fulham on the opening day of the season (6 August).

Liverpool face Wolves on Saturday (10 September) having only won two out of their five Premier League games in Thiago’s absence.

When asked how important it will be to have Thiago back, Hutton told Football Insider: “He’s a huge part of that Liverpool team.

I think he gives you that creative spark that maybe in certain games they’ve been missing. He always looks to go forward quickly which helps the front three so getting him back will be huge.

Obviously they’ve just signed a midfielder as well. It’s not been a great start for them but you don’t become a bad team overnight.

They’re full of top quality players and Jurgen Klopp will be disappointed but he’ll know that he’s possibly just round the corner from a six, seven, eight game winning streak so it might not be the end of the world.
