Pundit makes ‘huge’ Origi claim ahead of Liverpool January overhaul
Paddy Kenny has been blown away by Divock Origi’s recent Liverpool form.
The former Leeds United stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims Origi has “stepped up” after scoring in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over AC Milan at San Siro.
The striker was handed a rare start against AC Milan on Wednesday (8 December) after scoring a late winner off the bench in Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Wolves at Molineux last Saturday (4 December).

After finding the net against again, the 26-year-old now has five goals and two assists in 10 games across all competitions this term.
Liverpool are set to lose Sadio Mane and Mo Salah to the Africa Cup of Nations in January and Kenny claims Origi can keep Liverpool in the title race.
“He’s stepped up to the plate, this is huge for him,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He’s done that all through his Liverpool career. He is the man who scores the big goals.
“They are going to miss Salah and Mane in January but Origi has shown he can do it when he’s called up.
“That’s what Jurgen Klopp wants to see. He needs to know his team will be alright with their key men gone.
“Origi is in top form at the moment. I do think they might need another body in there because where are they if one of Origi, Firmino or Jota get injured?
“I think Origi will be able to keep Liverpool in the title race. He’s almost their secret weapon now.”

Origi has made 168 appearances for Liverpool.
He has scored 40 goals.
