Pundit makes 'massive' Bowen claim as West Ham player transfer battle instigated
Noel Whelan has suggested West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen may have instigated a top-level transfer battle after his performance against Manchester United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker insisted the Hammers would be “daft” to sell the 24-year-old any time soon.
As reported by the Independent (21st September), Liverpool and Tottenham are among the former Hull City star’s long-term admirers.
The Premier League giants are reportedly still circling ahead of a potential future raid.
However, Whelan suggested numerous other clubs will have joined the hunt for Bowen’s capture after the League Cup win over Man United.
Asked if he thought the winger was ready to step up to a top-level side, Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Absolutely.

“I think from that performance he put in the other night, the energy, the work rate, the intelligence on the ball, the running off the ball that he did, the defending off the ball as well.
“There’s going to be a lot of teams that stood up and took notice of him that evening.
“He really led the line. It was a completely different XI. I love his attitude, I love his work rate that he puts into the club.
“I think they’d be daft to get rid of him, quite frankly. He’s one of those players that he was one of the first when David Moyes came in.
“That was the first stage of changing the mentality of West Ham. Bringing in a bit of a few more homegrown, British players from the Championship level who have really risen to the Premier League.
“I think he’s a smashing player and I think he’s a massive player for West Ham.”
