Pundit makes ‘massive’ Celtic claim after medical expert issues Turnbull injury update

Celtic will be “worried” as they prepare for a title showdown against Rangers without “top performer” David Turnbull, according to Alan Hutton.

The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 22-year-old will be a “big miss” for the Parkhead club.

Turnbull was forced to withdraw just 25 minutes into Celtic’s 2-1 League Cup final win over Hibernian on Sunday (19 December).

As quoted by the Daily Record post-match, Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou claimed the midfielder “suffered from the amount of games we are playing at the moment.”

Football Insider injury expert Ben Dinnery suggested Turnbull could be sidelined for up to “eight weeks”.

Hutton insisted Celtic will be “worried” going into the Old Firm clash on 2 January.

“Theyll be worried about that Old Firm game,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“Especially if Turnbull and Jota are both out.

“Even Rangers are trying to protect Joe Aribo from getting that yellow card suspension. That just shows you what a massive game it is in terms of the league title race.

“Turnbull has been one of their top performers this season. He’ll be a massive miss. They’ll have to be careful. It’s a hamstring injury that could keep him out for a long time.”

Turnbull has started all but one game this season.

He has scored nine goals in 34 appearances.
