Pundit makes ‘unbelievable’ West Ham transfer claim after Vlasic deal done

Alan Hutton has suggested West Ham may have struck gold with the signing of Nikola Vlasic.

The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted backed the 23-year-old to star for the Irons thanks to David Moyes’ “unbelievable” record in the transfer market

West Ham confirmed the signing of Vlasic from Spartak Moscow on Tuesday (31st August)

The Athletic claim he has cost the Irons an initial £25.7million, with a further £7.7million in add-ons.

The Telegraph claim West Ham moved for Vlasic after baulking at Manchester United’s £30million asking price for Jesse Lingard.

Hutton admitted he understood why Moyes had chosen to pursue the 26-cap Croatia star.

He suggested Vlasic could be another inspired signing for his fellow countryman.

Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “When you look at age and stuff comes into it. If you’re paying £30million for someone that’s touching 30, yes he’s proven in the Premier League and had a great season last year.

“But Vlasic, anybody that’s in the Croatian national team, you know they’re technically gifted. They prove this all the time.

“He’s got that experience, he’s young, he’s going to get better. Playing at a higher level, as in the Premier League, we’ll hopefully see the best of him.

“If you look at Moyes’ transfers that he’s made over recent seasons, it’s been unbelievable. He’s yet to miss if we’re totally honest.

“This is one I’m looking forward to seeing. The little bits I have seen of him have been very good. I’m looking forward to seeing how he does in a high-flying West Ham team.”

Vlasic already has 12 Premier League experiences under his belt after a spell at Everton.
